Welcome to our school's website

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you and invite you to find out more about Stewart Fleming Primary School by browsing our website.

Watch our short video below to find out a bit more about the great things we offer here at Stewart Fleming.

We offer a caring and inclusive school community with high expectations of all our children. We provide a unique learning environment, which encourages our children to explore, discover and question through a range of exciting opportunities both indoors and out.

Our dedicated and inspirational staff team provides a safe and stimulating learning environment which reflects our vision and culture.  We value the support of our parent and carers; we promote mutual respect, whilst nurturing hearts and minds.  Together we ensure our children achieve their very best.

Stewart Fleming Primary School collaborates with both the local community and our family of schools from across The Pioneer Academy.  Strong and effective partnerships are an essential component to enrich our children’s experiences.

School Enterprise Challenge

As part of our school wide initiative to promote financial capability, our year 3 classes have been taking part in an enterprise scheme. The School Enterprise Challenge is a global business start-up Awards Programme run by the educational charity Teach A Man To Fish. It aims to create globally aware, socially responsible young entrepreneurs.

Our pupils have taken on this challenge with great enthusiasm. One student in particular has started his own business designing T-shirts with positive affirmations which he (with the help of his parents)  is personalising. He has already made some sales and is raising money for the school.

Making Sense of Money

We are working towards becoming a MoneySense Accredited School as part of our commitment to teaching our pupils how to use money safely and responsibly. We were joined last week by volunteers from NatWest to run workshops with Years Two and Four.

Miss Nolan's Year Two class learned about how we use money, how it can be spent, saved or donated. They also explored the difference between ‘needs’ and ‘wants’.

Year Four classes became party planners for the day. They worked in groups to put together and present to the rest of the class a fully costed, reasonably priced birthday party for a child.

The children were very excited about receiving a certificate and key ring and we are very grateful to the volunteers from NatWest.

The MoneySense website mymoneysense.com  has a Parents section where you can download activities to do at home. Your children can also explore a Virtual Bank to get used to the services in a real bank branch.

A Rememberance service was held at South Norwood School this week.  All of The Pioneer Academy head boys and girls surrounded the war memorial at and read poigniant words before laying wreaths to remember the fallen.  The children showed great respect and maturity.

Primary Panathlon Challenge

On Thursday 1st November 7 children attended the Primary Panathlon. The Panathlon is made up of activities such as sitting volleyball, table tennis top games and curling. It was an opportunity for children to experience sport in a different setting,  gaining knowledge of a variety of sports. It was a fantastic morning! We came 3rd overall! Well done to all who participated.

Year 4 Horse Riding

Horse Pic 1

This year we have been extremely lucky to be able to offer all children in Year 4 the opportunity to experience the equestrian world!

On Tuesday 2nd October 4M attended Dulwich Riding School. It was a lovely day where the children were able to ride a horse or a pony. They also learnt about caring for horses and helped to prepare their food, some where  even given the opportunity to muck out the stables! The children demonstrated their resilience, by being brave even when they were a little nervous of riding the horse or pony.

Michael Rosen visits Stewart Fleming.

Bears, picnics and laughter were the order of the day when Michael Rosen  visited the school this week. The award winning  poet captivated the children with two hilarious performances and stayed long after the school day ended to ensure the children recieved their signed books. He even found time to make a visit to the cave in our new reception play area  - where he found the bear he has been hunting for all these years. Thank you to the PTA for making this all possible.

KS1 Football Tournment

On Tuesday 25th September Stewart Fleming attended a KS1 Football Tournament organised by the Bromley School Games. This was their first competition and they were fantastic! They showed very good team work and good skills. They finished 3rd in the tournament, which was excellent.

Well done to all who played!
