Educate and Celebrate's Mission Statement
‘The Educate & Celebrate initiative is innovative and visionary’ Ofsted, Jan 2016
Educate & Celebrate is an Ofsted and DFE recognised Best Practice Programme that gives staff, students, parents and governors the confidence and strategies to implement an LGBT+Inclusive curriculum to successfully eradicate homophobia, biphobia and transphobia from our schools and communities.
Focusing on 5 core areas, the best practice programme invites teachers, students, parents and governors to partake in whole school change through training, policy, curriculum, community and environment giving opportunities to reflect upon their experiences.
Our aim is to ensure that educational establishments and organisations adhere to their statutory duty of LGBT+Inclusion in an accessible, comprehensive and creative way by treating everyone equally and fairly according to the Equality Act 2010.
How to teach about PRIDE, LGBT+, Identity and Discrimination to our youngest children?

Educate & Celebrate with Rainbow Week
RAINBOW WEEK
We held our RAINBOW WEEK during the week of 21st June 2021.
Staff used stories from the PRIDE book collections to support their teaching and learning throughout the week. Children had the opportunity to learn about what makes themselves and others unique, how different families are made up and most importantly of all to understand and respect that we all have the right to live, love and express ourselves freely without fear of being discriminated against.
Children reviewed our school code of conduct which states that:
The work completed was submitted and we achieved our GOLD award in Educate and Celebrate which evidences that we are an inclusive school that teaches our children about diversity in order to develop their own sense of self and build a generation of accepting, respectful, kind and compassionate young people ready to flourish in our ever changing world.

Reception children have jumped into RAINBOW WEEK heart first and have made these wonderful posters about diversity and what it means to be different!

Nursery Children have kicked off their RAINBOW WEEK celebrations thinking about different types of families using 'The Family Book' by Todd Parr. Check out their Nursery family tree!
It's Okay to Be Different ~ Reception Children have been using the story 'It's Okay to Be Different' by Todd Parr to explore, share and celebrate their differences. Children have learnt that it's okay to be different because that's what makes them unique!! Take a look at these wonderful illustrations and sentences that teachers are going to turn into class versions of Todd Parr's book!

On your marks, Get set....... BAKE!!!!
RAINBOW WEEK was a a huge success and the children have all learnt the importance of celebrating themselves and respecting others for who they are regardless of age, race, religion, gender identity, disability or appearance.
We ended the week with 'The Great Belvedere Infant School Rainbow Bake Off' and we were just blown away with the entries that were submitted, so much thought and creativity went into each and every bake. All who entered our competition will receive a rainbow heart sticker and the PRIDE Youth Network will be taking on the very difficult job of judging the bakes and picking a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
